What We Can Do

LION FISH MARKING AND MITIGATION

The lionfish, native to the Indo-Pacific region, has infiltrated its way into US and Caribbean waters. Their introduction is believed to be a result of hurricanes and tank releases during the early 1990’s. Lionfish are voracious carnivores that consume many other indigenous fish species and, if left unchecked, can kill three-quarters of a reef's fish population. The invasion of the non-native lionfish poses a major threat to the coral reef systems. Crew 3000 has been active in marking lionfish locations and will organize future lionfish hunts and cookouts (sweet and light meat).
